Hey guys, we were able to get PHP5.3, along with some other features, out. Thanks so much for your patience and your encouragement to get this feature out. Many of the holdups that caused this delay are now behind us. We know that 5.4 is the next ask and we will be working on it very soon.
Please check out our blog for other Cloud Sites updates http://www.rackspace.com/blog/rackspace-cloud-sites-update-adds-new-features/
dtb71,
5.3.10 is the version that is being deployed with a current set of modules.Josh

Hi All,
We're getting really close on this. Thanks for being so patient. We deployed a major release last night that enabled this and several other capabilities on the backend. We're in the process of testing the control panel now, which will expose these capabilities to users.-Josh
Right now, we don't have a specific release date for PHP 5.3 support, though it will be available sometime this year. When we release this, customers will have the option to deploy to 5.2 -or- 5.3. All sites that are currently leveraging 5.2 will continue to do so until you decide to switch to 5.3. At some point in the future, we will end-of-life support for 5.2 where users will be encouraged to upgrade to 5.3 before all of our clusters are automatically upgraded to 5.3. There will be plenty of notice for our users before this happens.
I hope this helps clear up any concerns regarding this process. We will keep users informed as a release for 5.3 becomes more imminent.

We’re continuing to make progress in developing full dual-stack IPv6 for Cloud Servers.
All load balancers are now being issued IPv6 interfaces automatically, which may be an option if you require IPv6 connectivity today.

We launched Cloud Load Balancers into General Availability in the US today. It will be coming soon to the UK

All,
We announced a public beta for load balancing @ http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/blog/2011/02/24/rackspace-cloud-load-balancers-beta-now-available-for-all-cloud-customers/I'll keep this in "started" status until we have full control panel integration.
I've merged the idea requesting load balancing images for Cloud Servers. We will continue developing these types of infrastructure services, though they won't be developed / deployed as images in many cases.

Over the last several months, we’ve made numerous changes that have improved the speed of the control panel.
We have other improvements planned over the next few months that will also result in significant improvements.
Hi All,
Just wanted to update this thread (and i'll post as a comment so that there is relevant history).Additional improvements were deployed on 7/26 (version 2.2.2) and include several significant performance improvements. We have more in the pipeline and you should continue to experience better performance as the development teams continue iterating.

Today we are excited to announce the general availability of Rackspace Cloud DNS API to all US and UK cloud customers. And we’re not done yet. While there is some DNS functionality already available in our current Cloud Control Panel, we are working to improve that experience and integrate the full set of Rackspace Cloud DNS API operations into our new Cloud Control Panel to deliver a first class user experience in 2012. Our goal is to expose the capabilities that are available via the API, including full management of domains and records, TTL settings, import/export, and more.
I have created a new request item to track the work for the UI enhancements.
http://feedback.rackspacecloud.com/forums/71021-product-feedback/suggestions/2345323-improved-dns-functionality-in-the-control-panelYes, it will have all of the capabilities and more as the Slicehost panel and will be extremely intuitive.
Hi Sind,
I completely agree. The current design can lead to bad expectations. We are actively working on completely redesigning the DNS module of the control panel and it will be a top-level feature and not directly coupled to the server view.I'm going to go ahead and merge this issue with the "Improved DNS Functionality in CP and DNS API" request, which is tracking this item.
@Jason - that is definitely in scope.
@James - That is definitely part of the response payload of the APIs -and- will be part of the revamped UI.
Hi All,
We announced a private beta for our DNS API today. You can learn more @ http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/blog/2011/03/21/announcing-rackspace-cloud-dns-api-private-beta-for-us-uk-cloud-customers/As the post says, as part of this effort, we will be completely overhauling the DNS management in the control panel.
Josh
I've merged the edit records request, which is part of the DNS overhaul.

Hi David,
We're very close on this. All of the testing is wrapping up on the control panel now.
