Create a backup solution for Cloud Sites
Build a backup solution for Cloud Sites that will allow us to back up per domain to either Cloud Files or S3.

The ability to choose amount of RAM and HD space seperately.
For many of my servers, I only need a few gigs of HD space, but much more memory. We should be able to choose HD and RAM separately.

We have begun working on a Cloud Block Storage solution that will enable customers to scale their storage independently from their compute. As part of our planning, we would love to understand your storage needs.
Please help by taking this short survey about your block storage needs. Thanks!

Please make the management console much faster
I only have one virtual host right now, and it take 10-12 seconds just to display that one host in Hosting > Cloud Servers. Then it takes another 6 seconds after I click on the one server just to display its details.
This is really unacceptable.

Over the last several months, we’ve made numerous changes that have improved the speed of the control panel.
We have other improvements planned over the next few months that will also result in significant improvements.

PHP 5.3 support in Cloud Sites
PHP 5.3 provides several new features and the major libraries/frameworks have had a year to support the changes. It's time ;)

Multiple Control Panel Users Per Account
It would be nice if you could delegate/manage/authorize multiple users in the control panel... like Slicehost.
The idea of one admin user / account sucks. There's no way to collaborate without sharing your admin credentials...

Need option to suspend servers to save money
With EC2, I can make have a virtual machine that I only turn on when I need it. I only pay for disk space, and don't have to pay operating costs when it's off. EC2 is the only cloud provider with this feature, which is very useful for me.

Eliminate the dreaded "no suitable nodes" error
I am running a number of Drupal sites that have a number of modules and appropriately many database tables. The problem is that whenever I clear the cache or visit a heavier and/or uncached page (a typical example is the list of modules available to admin; very long and uncached), your load balancer does not get a reply from the database and cuts off the connection after 30-60 seconds. This produces the dreaded "Unfortunately there were no suitable nodes available to serve this request." After two years of discussing with your techs I actually have started moving my sites to… more

Create a FreeBSD Image
It'd be great if you could build a FreeBSD image for CloudServers, so that I can deploy some FreeBSD-specific applications.

"Small business tier service for Cloud sites"
Offer a smaller Sites service - same managed service but less resources.
We are feeling the downturn and only use a small % of Sites resources. Being asked to cut budgets and maybe move server355 votes -
Secure VPN internal IPs
While the internal IPs are nice, they are still open to the rest of the rackspace world, right?
Having a secure VPN interface that is accessible only to the other machines in the rackspace account would be awesome.

create a cloud site API
Its very frustrating if you live outside of the US and dont want to use Rackspace for billing (in US$) for cloud sites. It seems so simple to release an API for provisioning and data collection. I have asked for over a year now, and its always next quarter, next quarter. When is this coming because until cloud sites can integrate with 3rd party billing software its as useful as a one string guitar.

Add Storage Space Upgrade Option per Mailbox
Stop driving us to other email solutions and offer a per mailbox storage upgrade. Rackspace Apps is not always the answer, especially on small domains with only 1 or 2 mailboxes and is not reseller friendly for most CloudSites. This will only become more of a pain point as customers store more email and come to expect more storage based on what free services offer.

Support URL token authentication for Cloud Files not on the CDN.
S3 has a feature where you can generate URL-tokens (hashes) to grant download access to a file not on the CDN. This allows the developer to keep more private and sensitive files off the CDN but grant download access to users without Cloud accounts.
Without this feature, developers must host these files themselves or create a download proxy script which defeats the bandwidth and performance benefits of the cloud.

Bring back a file manager! FTP is no good for large sites with many files
We miss file manager a lot. If you are doing a lot of deployments you need ability to upload a zip then extract it. The current recommended cron method is not at all practical. Please bring some sort of file manager back or find us a decent zip extractor scrip that can scan a folder.

Thanks for your votes. Cloud Files CDN does support origin pull today, where if content is not located on edge servers, it will fetch from the origin. That being said, it sounds like some of you may have a different definition of “origin pull”. We’ll take your votes and ideas into consideration. Thanks again!

Ability to choose which data center to spawn an instance in
Currently I have clients in ORD1 and I am in DFW1. No local traffic between the two... I need to have the ability to specify which Data Center my cloud instances spawn in.
Also, as we get bigger, it'd be awesome to choose which data centers to spawn in so that we are not centrally geo-located.

Create a dedicated database service
To a point MySQL servers are an easy to create, easily scalable commodity that doesn't need to be on the hosting servers. Up to certain limits why not create MySQL servers for users to just access and use as needed. Then bill for exact disk space and CPU/Memory used? If done right the infrastructure could be kept secure and up to date by you while allowing for fast scalable and dependable DB systems by your clients.

configurable IP addresses
I would love to see it posible to configure/administrate IP address, such that the IP address can be reused on upgraded (virtual) servers. A feature similar to AWS "Elastic IP address" (http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/#features) is what I am looking for.
